    The times, they are a-changin'...

Fare thee well, Shentel Dial-up internet.  I know that I am probably one of the three or four people on the east coast still using dial-up, but that, as all things, must come to an end.  You have served me well, if (very) slowly, for the past four and a half years.

Sean got us high speed internet!!!

I'm currently still using the dial-up for now, as my computer is lacking in the wireless stuff (techincal term) necessary to pick it up from his computer.

Once that's remedied, though, I am so going to spend a few days catching up on The Colbert Report!  <3 <3 <3

    So Cold...
This was the least I could do-

Really, my bedroom windows are all covered with frost on the inside, so I had to find some amusement at that.

    Financial fun!
So, I went to the bank today to be greeted with a nice, plastic encased sign with pamphlets stating that they, Wachovia, already the official scary monster conglomorate from many previous mergers bank, have been bought by Wells Fargo.  Yay!

On their little ever broadcasting finance news televisions there was cheery news about how last year was bad, but so far this year is worse, and they are expecting that the worst is yet to come.  Fun.

"We're in a 'deep recession' ", they announced.

Right.  That's certainly encouraging!  (I think there are a few extra letters in there.)

All this time, there was a huge banner behind the counter about how great a time it is to start a Wachovia savings account.  Starting an account with Mattress and Box Springs somehow seems preferable right now.

'Tis time to find a new bank.

    Minnesota
I will preface this with the following:
Yes, I know that this will still be dragged through every single legal bog possible.
Yes, I know that nothing has been announced yet, that this is merely speculation.
Yes, I know that this will probably still be officially undecided at the time of the NEXT election.
    But...
I am still doing a happy dance.
    Go Al Franken!

Here was one of the headlines on Yahoo this morning:

Now she needs to make a movie, so it will become a more seriously considered topic, just like global warming.

    Nonclave
Nonclave was fun, though I really didn't play much this year.  That said, the tea party and bacchanal both rocked.

I got home yesterday, left all of the stuff in my car, Sean and I went to IHOP (I was still craving gamer food, apparently) where I ate a small villiage out of house and home, came home, and slept for almost 13 hours.

Now, off to unpack the car...

    Wow...
I'll admit it. I'm a super liberal dork with a mean and sarcastic sense of humor.

As such, I <3 Stephen Colbert (and, to a slightly lesser extent, Jon Stewart)and nearly died today at work while catching bits of last night's reruns on the TV over the bar (this only somewhat makes up, mind, for the hellish weekends of football).

    To sum it up:

    Nonclave...
Was cold at night.... good god.

I was in some amazing scenes, though... it was fun to play and politic with some of you guys that I don't get to see very often (I still say we need to start a foodservice worker's weekend game on a Monday night).

I have to send a major thanks out to Greg, Matt, Kelly, the player of Charlotte Stills, and Alison, player of Marie, and a bunch of others for their massive help throughout the weekend, with the Bacchanal stuff and otherwise.  I also have to thank Stacy, player of Sturbridge, for running to Starbucks, and Debbie, player of Kimi Delaney and goddess of brownies (and blondies!!) for bringing the huge pan of baked goodness to the front cabin.  The two of them kept me alive through Friday check-in and the wee hour Saturday morning RPing.

    Dorking...

Nonclave should be fun this year.  I have more days off in a row than I've had, well, since last Nonclave.  I've needed this for about 6 months.

I'm again doing the coffee, punch, and Italian soda thing for the Bacchanal, which is looking to be a better, more expansive spread than ever before (French press coffee this year).  I am also going to try to avoid blowing out my voice beforehand this time, which should provide for more fun ;) (I <3 you,

[info] mirage897!).  If anyone needs help with their costume for this, though, please shoot me a line in private.  I will exchange help in designing, pinning, sewing and folding for assistance in setting up or taking down drink stuff, carrying bage of ice and coolers, etc.

    That is all for now...

Pay It Forward : I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment here on my LJ.

I don’t know what that gift will be yet, but you will receive it within 365 days of this post. The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making a similar agreement on your blog.

    Grrr...
Game stuff is exploding all about, which is a pain, but granted, I can deal with without too much of an issue (I'm HST, and fully expected it as part of the job description). The thing I can't- Driving from game on Friday to Denny's I tuned my radio to 94.7 Classic Rock... and IT'S GONE!!! It's now a modern rock station. :(
